May 16, 2011 – Plant trials: Where are we headed? That will be the topic of a presentation given by Anthony Tesselaar, cofounder and president of international horticultural company, Tesselaar Plants (developer of Flower Carpet® roses, Tropicanna® cannas, Volcano® phlox and more) at the 2011 International Trials Conference to be held July 4-8 by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in Surrey, UK.
Speaking before many of the world’s leading industry professionals at Garden Wisley, the flagship garden of RHS, Tesselaar will address some of the questions and issues surrounding today’s plant trials: Do so-called “award-winners” really stand the test of time? How does a traditionally male-driven industry appeal to a predominantly female demographic? And has the horticulture industry become so caught up in what’s new, it has forgotten about what’s good?
“I hope the topic sparks some debate,” says Tesselaar, the environmentally-aware, market-savvy and experienced plant developer whose search for remarkable, dependable garden plants has taken him around the world.
About Tesselaar Plants
Headquartered in Australia, Tesselaar Plants searches the world and introduces new plants for the home garden, landscape, home décor and gift markets. Tesselaar Plants undertakes extensive research and development of its varieties and, once selected for introduction, provides marketing and promotional support for its plant brands through its grower and retail network. Tesselaar’s portfolio of plants is small by design, given rigorous standards that result in high-quality, dramatic, prolific plants that are also environmentally friendly and exceptionally easy to grow.
The Tesselaar philosophy is to introduce exceptional plants while “making gardening easy” for everyone, and so it makes them widely available as possible. Tesselaar believes that the more gardeners there are, the better it is for everyone.
